EMOA District Event Results

The EMOA Executive Committee have been discussing ways to improve the display of results from District Events in order to make the comparison within age and sex groups easier. The results from the 8 District Events held in 2007 in the region up to the end of July have been re-processed and can be accessed from this page. Note that only Light Green to Brown courses have been analysed. After looking at these results any comments would be welcome by either talking to your club EMOA representative or emailing me directly.

These events results can be accessed with the links below. Note that an extra field has been added to the information normally seen and this is the number of points awarded based on the Scottish 6-Day System. Each competitor within a colour course is given a point score calculated by using the mean and standard deviation of all the runners on the course using the formula
Points=1000 +200 * (Mean Time – Runners Time)/Standard Deviation
Within the groups seen in the results the points give an alternative way to compare across the groupings as well as a measure of how far you were above, or below, the average (=1000).

As some of these grouping will have very few competitors, particularly at the smaller events there has been an attempt to compare across the colours courses as well. This has been done by factoring the points awarded with Brown getting 100%, Blue 80%, Green 60% and Light Green 25%. The Light Green has been reduced to 25% as a recognition that the course is planned to Technical Difficulty 4, lower than the other courses. These adjusted points are then used to give a position within a single age and sex group for the event. The ratios are experimental and feedback would be welcome. The results shown in this fashion can be accessed using the links below.

As a consequence of doing this and as a cross check that the factoring was in the right region it is possible to devise a ranking system based on the 6 best results. This in no way replaces the East Midland League but adds some extra information. The rankings derived from these events can be seen on the link below.
